Maulana Shakir Naqvi, an 84-year-old religious scholar passed away today at about 11.00 AM in Lucknow. He will be buried in his hometown, Amroha.
He served at Nazmia Arabic College, Lucknow as a teacher and was one of the most respected ustad in Hawzaat of India.
Many of his books have been published in Arabic and have been praised by scholars of Iran and Iraq. He has also translated many Arabic and Persian books into Urdu. Born in Amroha, he lead a simple and secluded life and spent most of his time writing and hence he was not so famous as are the orators of the Shi'a community.
Please do not forget him tomorrow for Namaz-e-Wahshat.
