Eidul Fitr Prayers

Eidul Fitr Prayers
It is considered by tradition to be an obligatory [Wajib - prayer, though technically it is an optional prayer with the injunction that it is preferable to offer even if optional (Sunnat-e-Muvakkadah)].
This prayer is Sunnat during the period of occultation of the Imam-e-Zamana(a.s.). Ghusl (Purification Bath) on Eid day is sunnat, which should preferably be taken under a shelter and not under the open sky.
Before offering Eid prayers it is recommended to have a breakfast of dates. The specified time of Eid prayer is between sunrise and the sun"s initial decline (Zawal).
If this prayer happens to be missed it cannot be offered late as "Qaza". Women are exempted from this prayer. The Prayer of Eid-ul-fitr can be performed individually if one has missed the Jama"at.

Takbir before Namaz-e-Eid: "Allaaho Akbar, Allaaho Akbar, Laa Ilaaha Illallaah Wallaaho Akbar, Allaaho Akbar, Wa lillaahil Hamd. Alhamdulillah Alaa Maa Hadaanaa Walahu Shukr Alaa Maa Aulana."

This prayer consists of two Rakats. Niyyat (Intention) should be in these words: "I resolve to offer two Rakats Namaz-e-Eid, Sunnat Qurbatan Ellallah". This should be followed by "Takbir" (Allah-Ho-Akber). In the first Rakat after Sura "Al-Hamd", recite Sura "Ala" or The Most High. Then five times Dua-e-Qunoot, followed by Ruku and then Sajda.

Then up again for the second Rakat. In the second Rakat after Sura "Al-Hamd" recite Sura "Shams" or The Sun and four times "Dua-e-Qunoot". After this the namaz should be completed like the Morning Prayer.
Pray the Eid prayers.

It is advisable to pray the Eid prayers in the open ground in congregation. If prayed in congregation the rules of "congregational prayers" should be followed.) It is a 2 Rak-a't Salaat.

Stand erect, still and humble. Say Takbeeratul Ih'raam (Allahu Akbar). Make "Niyyat":

"I Pray 2 Rak-a't Salaat ul Eid (Fit'r or Ad'haa), seeking nearness to Allah, in His obedience".

First Rak-a't
(i)Recite Soorah Al Faatih'ah, and Soorah Al Aa'-laa.
(ii)Say Allaahu Akbar
(iii)Then recite the following Qunoot:

(Please remember that the above noted(ii) and (iii) have to be rcited, one after the other, 5 times).

Fitrah on the Night of 1st Shawwal

According to the Shariah, Fitra becomes incumbent when the new moon of Shawwal is sighted. This is known as Zakat of Fitra, which is payable by every Baligh person for oneself and all dependents, temporary or otherwise, regardless of gender and age. It is also Mustahab to pay Fitra for an unborn child. Fitra to be distributed to the needy, first locally and then abroad.
As per law 1999 of Ayatullah Seestani’s ‘Islamic laws’: “At the time of sunset on Eid ul Fitr, whoever is adult and sane and is neither unconscious, nor poor, or the slave of another, he should give, on his own behalf as well as on behalf of all those who are his dependents, about three kilos per head of wheat or barley or dates or raisins or rice of millet etc. It is also sufficient if he pays the price of one of these items in case

The Special Distinction of the Day of Eid

Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Azha prayers are obligatory during the time of Imam (A.S.), and it is necessary to offer them in congregation. However during the present times when the Holy Imam is in Occultation, these prayers are Mustahab, and may be offered individually as well as in congregation. The time for Eid prayers is from sunrise till Zuhr. Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as) delivered on the day of Eid al-Fitr, in which he said: "O people! Verily this day of yours is the day when the righteous are awarded and the wretched are losers. It is a day which is similar to the one on which you shall be standing (before your Lord). Therefore, when you come out of your homes to go to places of your prayer, remind yourselves about the day when you (your souls) shall come out of your bodies to go to your Lord. When you stand on places of your prayer, remind yourselves of your standing in presence of your Lord (on the day of Judgement). And when you return to your homes (after prayer), remind yourselves about your returning to your homes in Paradise.(Nahjul-Balaghah)
That is why It is recommended that Eid prayers be performed in the open fields, to walk barefooted to attend Eid prayers and to perform Sajdah on earth and to do Ghusl before namaz, and to place a white turban on one's head.

What is the actual meaning of Eid? At first, it may be proper to seek the meaning of Eid in the books of the scholars. (1) Eid is the day of special attention of Allah (SWT) to His servants, recalling them to His presence and the day of loving Him. Eid is the day of activeness, happiness, and granting of servant's requests. This day, is the day of awarding and writing a secure chit from hellfire for servants. Further it is the time one may gather things that benefit him in the hereafter.Eid is a day, which Allah (SWT) showers His servants with His blessings and generosity. So at this time that the merciful Allah (SWT) extended his generosity, how great it would be for pious people and sinners to confess (their defects and faults), and hope for receiving His grants. Surely they won't be dispossessed from Allah's (SWT) grace. Now on this Holy day that we have returned to our Lord, how should we talk to Him and call Him? What is better than accompanying with our kind Master when he is calling his Lord in a caring manner? it!
