Sheikh Usama Al Attar

October 30  2011

Canadian-Iraqi scholar, Sheikh Usama Al Attar was detained in Medina, Saudi Arabia yesterday. Sheikh Usama Al Attar is the resident Alim of the Islamic Shia Ithna Asheri Association of Edmonton, member organization of NASIMCO and was on the annual pilgrimage, Hajj to Saudi Arabia.

The Canadian Broadcast Corporation reported the following:

"The attack took place at a cemetery in Medina early Sunday morning and was reportedly sparked when religious police approached an international group of pilgrims that included the imam, Usama Al-Atar of Edmonton. Witnesses said angry words were spoken, then things calmed down. That's when a single member of the religious police approached Al-Atar, offered to shake his hand and then called out to a group of men at a taxi stand. They rushed in and began beating Al-Atar, kicking him and attempting to throttle him, the witnesses said. Medina central police arrived, escorted the Canadian to a car and drove away, according to the witnesses. Several witnesses said the attack was unprovoked, CBC journalist Muhammad Lila wrote on his Twitter page."

NASIMCO is actively working with local and federal government officials towards the immediate release of Sheikh Usama Al Attar. Relevant leaders of our communities in Canada, Council of European Jamaats, Africa Federation and The World Federation officials are working in conjunction with NASIMCO to strengthen our efforts. Contact with the Canadian Ministry of Foreign affairs, local members of Parliament and media outlets are being established. Updates on the situation will be released as they become available.

Does Obama understand what's been unleashed?

A week after news of an alleged Iranian assassination plot in Washington rocked the international scene, public details remain scant. The Obama administration - including the president himself - has spoken with unequivocal certitude regarding the Iranian government’s intentions and involvement. But until he uses the same level of candour to publicly disclose detailed evidence, we will not know anything beyond allegations.
Pundits will continue speculating with whodunnit analysis that constructs an incomplete puzzle, but engaging in hypotheticals does not paint a clearer picture.
More telling are the increasingly dangerous geopolitical ramifications of this crisis. Full Story

From the Desk of Hojjatul Islam, Mohammad al-Musawi (m,a,)

Imām Ja'far   al-Sādiq (a.s.) said:
“Three actions are the best;

  • People should receive complete justice from you so much so that you desire for them what you desire for yourself.
  • You must co-operate monetarily with your brothers in faith.
  • You must remember Allāh (s.w.t.) in every condition.

That remembrance is not merely Subhanallah (Glory be to Allāh) or Alhamdo Lillah (Praise be to Allāh), (it is remembering Allāh (s.w.t.), always). When some duty comes upon you which Allāh (s.w.t.) has ordered you must fulfill it, and when some prohibited act comes before you; leave it.”

Remembering Marhum Maulana Ghulam Askari (TS) Sahab

A Majlis has been organised by Zainabia Trust, at Zainabia Imambada tonight at 8.00 PM for the eisaal-e-sawaab of marhum Maulana Sayed Ghulam Askari (TS).
It will be recited by Hujjatul Islam, Sayed Hasnain Rizvi Kararvi.
Marhum Ghulam Askari (TS) was the founder of Tanzeemul Makatib, Lucknow. This Organisation was founded for the religious education for the young generation.
After the demise of marhum in May, 1985 it was propelled ahead by marhum Allamah Sayed Zeeshan Haider Jawadi. But, after the passing away of Allamah in year 2000, it had become unstable. Many founder members, scholars and Olama of Tanzeem have resigned
The secretary has been on his post nearly  for two decades.
There are two groups now. Accusing each other of corruption and electoral manipulations.. Many cases have been filed in the court of law against each other.
Famous personalities and the likes of Dr. Payam Azmi, Maulana Tasdeeq Husain Rizvi, Maulana Maroofi (London) have disassociated themselves from Tanzeem.
Maulana Manzar Sadiq who was the principal of the Hawzah of Tanzeem was forced out from him post.
We pray to Allah that this dispute is settled amicably, which will be beneficial for the children of the community.
