Egypt Update

I asked what is the future, which they want to lead them and what future holds for them?
The answer was simple, let us choose what we want, we don’t want America or Israel to affect who leads us or who we elect. We are adults, intelligent enough to decide what is right and what is wrong for us. While Gamal was uttering these words the shining in his eyes made me think with youth like him they can never choose wrong, provided they are given a chance to elect. We ended the debate and decided to move.

Hypocracy of Obama, the American President

Very concerned about violence in Egypt - government must respect the rights of the Egyptian people & turn on social networking and internet.
PressSecretary, Robert Gibbs (EOP)

Now the Contradiction:
Adalah-NY recently posted on American-made tear gas made by Combined Tactical Systems (CTS), a part of Combined Systems Inc.,  being shot at protesters across the West Bank. Now this theme is at last being echoed in the mainstream press, about Egypt and the same US tear gas company. From the Telegraph:
A stark contrast, however, to the US's calls for calm has come from protesters angry at the fact that the tear gas canisters being fired at them by security forces seem to be made in America - via AFP: "Egyptians staging anti-government protests on Friday vented anger at the fact that the tear gas security forces are firing at them is US-manufactured, probably part of a massive military aid package. "'The American taxpayer should know how their money is being spent,' shouted one young male protester who declined to give his name, brandishing a spent tear gas canister marked 'Made in USA.'
"Dozens of the canisters made by Combined Tactical Systems in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, were fired at crowds on one Cairo street on Friday, littering the road surface along with rubble and spent shotgun cartridges. "Many protesters have been injured through tear gas inhalation and by being hit by the canisters themselves, with the security forces sometimes firing them straight at demonstrators." Complete Story

Plight of Malaysian Shias

The Malaysian Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, but when it comes to Islam, the country’s official religion, only the Sunni sect is permitted. Other forms, including Shiite Islam, are considered deviant and are not allowed to be spread.
Mr. Mohammad was one of 130 Shiites detained by the religious authorities in December as they observed Ashura, the Shiite holy day commemorating the death of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Ali, in their prayer room in an outer suburb of Kuala Lumpur.
There are no official figures on the number of Shiites in Malaysia, but Shiite leaders estimate that there could be as many as 40,000, many of whom practice their faith secretly.
While sectarian divisions are associated more with countries such as Iraq and Pakistan, Islamic experts say Malaysia is a rare example of a Muslim-majority country where the Shiite sect is banned. They say the recent raid reflects the religious authorities’ reluctance to accept diversity within Islam, and was part of the authorities’ continuing efforts to impose a rigid interpretation of the religion.
Although there had been some earlier arrests of Shiites since the National Fatwa Council, the country’s top Islamic body, clarified that Sunni Islam was the official religion in 1996, the December raid on the prayer room occupied by the Lovers of the Prophet’s Household was the first in recent years, according to the Shiite group’s Iranian-trained leader, Kamil Zuhairi bin Abdul Aziz.......Full Article

Arab world in for more revolutions?

Arab countries might be in for revolutions similar to the one in Tunisia, the results of an opinion poll conducted by Press TV have shown.

Around 54 percent of 1,555 respondents to the online poll believed a revolution may take place in other Arab countries.
Roughly 29 percent of those polled were convinced that the West ostensibly threw its weight behind the revolution in Tunisia, but, in fact, was against it.
More than 17 percent also suggested that the West actually facilitated the revolution.
The poll was carried out from January 18-23.
A former Arab League envoy to the UN said in an interview with Press TV that the Tunisian revolution is inspiring the Arab world, which is worn-out by various dictatorial regimes.
Clovis Maksoud said Tunisia's revolution “is one of the most inspiring events of the Arab world in the contemporary time.”
The revolution “is the prognosis by which many frustrated people in various countries -- suffering dictatorship, poverty, and marginalization, are now being empowered,” said the former ambassador to the United Nations.

Shaikh al-Amree No More

Madina has lost one of its son today at 1.00 PM IST, Shaikh al-Amree. He was 138 years of Age and was one of the most respected Shia of Saudi Arabia. Every Shia Haji and Mo'tamar who visited Madina would not forget to visit him.
It is famous that he was one of the miracles of Imam-e-Zamana (a.s.). The governer of Madina had made him drop by the security in the desert from the helicopter, but, he returned home the next day without any scratch. After that the rulers never dared to touch him.
His garden in al-awaali locality of Madina is very famous for hospitality. A beautiful masjid is this garden with dates trees and flowing water. It is huge garden. It is famous as "Mazra" of Shaikh Amree. Daily lunch is hosted for the zaereen and is called, "Dastarkhwaan of Imam Hasan (a.s.)" by the Iranians. Shaikh Amree is already in the "jawaar" of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.). May Allah increase manifold the status of Shaikh in the next world. The Haaji will miss him in Madina. Click the below slide show

Ziyarat of Arbaeen

Arbaeen, also called Chehlum in India, will be on Tuesday, 25th of January. There are Majalis, Shab-bedaari, Nauha Khwani and Juloos in Mumbai city. Also on the day of Chehlum a procession starts from Zainabia and terminates at Rehmatabad graveyard in Mazgaon. The route of the procession (juloos) is Zainabia Imambad, Bhendi Bazar, Moghal Masjid, J.J. Hospital, Noor Bagh, Sales Tax office and Rehmatabad. In many parts of the city Ziyarat of Arbaeen is recited along with A'maal.
Ziyarat of Arbaeen is a sign of faith to salute Imam Husain (a.s.) on the 20th of Safar and to perform his Ziyarat. Imam Ja'far Sadiq (a.s.) has taught the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) on the day of Arbaeen as follows: He says:
Perform the Ziyarat in the following manner after the sun is considerably up:
“At the time of reciting the Ziyarat it is necessary that along with reciting it verbally you must also pay attention on the meaning of that which you are reciting so that you may earn the rewards of Ziyarat along with cognition (Marifat). And you should also be aware of the position and status of the one whose Ziyarat you are reciting.
What was the aim of his martyrdom? Of what aim did he accept this great martyrdom? And what is the secret that along with guidance his martyrdom is bestowed with such freshness and perpetuity? Even after the passage of fourteen hundred years, every day and every time it seems as if this incident has occurred juts today.”
The following sentence of Ziarat Arbaeen explains the aim of Imam Husain’s (a.s.) martyrdom:
He called the people to God, the Prophet and religion in such a way that he left no scope for excuses. He dispensed good advice in the best and the most appropriate manner and O Allah, he sacrificed his life in Your way. So that:
He be able to save Your servants from the dangerous waves of a death of ignorance, deviation, perplexity and confusion.
This statement shows that one of the aim of the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.) was to save people from ignorance and deviation.
One can come out of ignorance through education. The better is the level of education, the more a person would be away from deviation.
One can keep away from deviation through guidance. Guidance means to remain firm on the straight path. Ahle Bayt (a.s.) are the Straight Path. As much as we adopt the manners and morals of Ahle Bayt (a.s.) as much we would be guided. As much as we are educated and guided as much proximate we would be with the aim of the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.).

11,000 Palestinians in Israeli jails, including children

European countries are on the side of the United States on the issue of the Israeli occupation of -- and attacks on -- Palestine, says a political expert.
“There is no doubt that the British, the French, [and] the Germans are very firmly on the American side and the Israeli side. And that is why even now, as Gaza is under blockade, there is no serious move to remove that blockade.”
In December 2008, the Israelis launched an attack on Gaza that took the lives of more than 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians, in the populated coastal strip and left thousands more injured. The assault also inflicted over $1.6 billion in damages on the territory's economy.
“The US government and the Europeans know exactly what is going on -- how the children of Gaza continue to suffer today. You have ... 11,000 Palestinians in Israeli jails, including children, which is extraordinary that Western European countries, the Western media, the American government are completely silent on these issues.
Despite international condemnation, Israel is proceeding with the construction of settlements in the occupied territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds, having so far demolished 995 Palestinian homes and displaced 5,783 individuals, among them 3,109 children, since the start of the year, 2000.
“No matter how hard the Palestinian government or the Palestinian people work to put their points across to the Western public, it is simply not going to get them very far. As I pointed out earlier, though, the international community and world public opinion is firmly on the side of the Palestinians,” Marandi concluded. Full Story

125th Year of Anjumane Imamia

There are more than 250 maatami anjumans in the Mumbai city. They organise majalis, shab bedaari, participate in juloos, arrange Mehfile Maqasida, erect water sabeels, ditribute niyaz and tabarruk, etc. One of the anjuman is, Anjumane Imamia.
The membership of this Anjuman has crossed the 300 mark. Majority of them belong to Lucknow of Northern India. They organise 10 majalis every year from 1st Safar to 10th Safar, the second month of the Islamic calendar.
The president of this anjuman is Kausar Zaidi and the secretary is Rizwan sahab. They had been managing the affairs of this anjuman competitively for the last few years.
This anjuman was established 125 years ago. The majalis of Safar is 100 years old. Marhum Taher Jarwali, one of the greatest orater of his time had been one of the most successful zakir. The azadaars would come an hour in advance to hold their places on farshe aza of Babar Ali Imambada (now Zainabia). His sudden and sad demise in Mashhad left the members of Anjuman perplexed.
They invited Agha Ruhi from Lucknow, but, after 3 or 4 majalis he discontinued due to ill health and invited maulana Ghazanfar Abbas to carry the ashra till 10th Safar. This year is the 25th Ashra of the said maulana. Tonight is the 9th majlis and tomorrow will be the last followed by Shab bedaari.

Revival of Marsiya in India

Janab Abbas Nigaar is a famous personality of Lucknow. He had been active in Delhi before. An experienced event manager. He has organised many literary seminars and meets in Northern India. Last week he visited Mumbai.  At the final Majlis of Marsiya at Daray Zainab he spoke to us about the art of Marsiya. He tries to explains something about it in the below video.

Sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll -- Saudi style, Leaks by Wikileaks

"Behind the facade of Wahabi conservatism in the streets, the underground nightlife for Jeddah's elite youth is thriving and throbbing," the cable begins.
In evidence, then Consul General Martin Quinn refers to a Halloween party last year. The redacted cable reads: "Along with over 150 young Saudis (men and women mostly in their 20s and early 30s), ConGenOffs accepted invitations to an underground Halloween party at Prince XXXX residence in Jeddah on XXXX."

"The scene resembled a nightclub anywhere outside the Kingdom: plentiful alcohol, young couples dancing, a DJ at the turntables, and everyone in costume," it said.
The notorious Vice Police were nowhere to be seen "because the religious police keep their distance when parties include the presence or patronage of a Saudi royal and his circle of loyal attendants." There are literally thousands of princes in Saudi Arabia, but the host of this event was able to trace his lineage back to a direct ancestor of King Abdullah.

Majlis at Chapel Road, Bandra

Maulana Hasnain Kararvi
Today after leading namaaz of Zohrain at Akhtar Imam's residence Hojjatul Islam Maulana Hasnain Kararvi went on mimbar for the majlis.
He started his talk on Tawheed. Zaat (essence) and Sifaat (attributes) of Allah. He also stressed the point that whatever bounties our Creator has given to us is an amanat (trust) not a milkiyat (property). Our behaviour should be based on these two things. The former one will bring humility in ourselves and the later will develop arrogance. He also hinted on the distribution of sustenance by Almighty Allah. He distributes the rizq (sustenance) as per His wish not on the base of the intelligence of His creation.
Allah has given the best bounty to the mankind and not to His other creations, and that is ikhtiyaar (free will).
After Majlis niyaz (lunch) was served to the azadaars. Daal Gosht, Khichda, Mutton Kadhai with rice and roti were the delicacies.
This majlis is an annual event in the month of Safar. Akhtar Imam (proprietor of News Sangam Decoraters) is very much involved in Mumbai Azadaari and is always on the forefront to serve the Shia community. May Allah increase his taufeeqat.

For more than a decade, an Ashra of Majlis is held for the first 10 days of the month of Safar  at Rizvi Foundation of Ambedkar Rd., Pali Hill. The ashra has already started from 6th Jan 2011 and will continue upto 15th of January. Maulana Zulfiqaar Mahdi is the zakir. The majalis are for ladies and as well as for gents. Th e mourners in black clothes swarmed the Bandra West. The niyaz was served at many points which had sherbat, samosas, tea, coffee, snacks etc.
The nauha reciters were chanting nauhas on the Karbala martyrs. Mohammad Atiq, the Security CEO at Rizvi Builders said," for the many years I have been witnessing  the enthusiasm of azadaars (mourners), but, this year the youths were in the forefront."
Fazal of Vakola has come to attend this juloos inspite of his sickness. Ajaz from Nalla Sopara has come a long way with his family and said that he never missed this occasion since it started.

Major Historical Events of the Month of Safar

Rules regarding will (Wasiyyat) » Inheritance

2737. There are three groups of persons who inherit from a dead person, on the basis of relationship:
  1. The first group consists of the dead person's parents and children, and in the absence of children, the grand children, however low, and among them whoever is nearer to the dead person inherits his property. And as long as even a single person from this group is present, people belonging to the second group do not inherit.
  2. The second group consists of paternal grandfather, paternal grandmother, and sisters, brothers, and in the absence of sisters and brothers their children, whoever from among them is nearer to the dead person, will inherit from him. And as long as even one person from this group is present, people belonging to the third group do not inherit.
  3. The third group consists of paternal uncles and paternal aunts and maternal uncles and maternal aunts, and their descendants. And as long as even one person from the paternal uncles and paternal aunts and maternal uncles and maternal aunts of the dead person is present, their children do not inherit.
However, if the paternal step uncle and the son of the real paternal uncle are present, the son of the dead person's real paternal uncle will inherit from him to the exclusion of the paternal step uncle. But if there are several paternal uncles and several paternal cousins, or if the widow is alive, then this rule is not without Ishkal.
2738. If the dead person's own paternal uncle and paternal aunt and maternal uncle and maternal aunt and their children and their grandchildren do not exist, the property will be inherited by the paternal uncles and paternal aunts and maternal uncles and maternal aunts of dead person's parents.
And if even they do not exist, the property will be inherited by their descendants. And in the absence of their descendants, the property is inherited by the paternal uncles and paternal aunts and maternal uncles and maternal aunts of the dead person's paternal grand parents. And if even they do not exist, the property is inherited by their descendants.
2739. Husband and wife inherit from each other as will be explained later.

Drink Water and Remember Imam Husain (a.s.)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.), O Dawood! Curse the killers of Imam Husain (a.s.). There is not a servant that after drinking water remembers Imam Husain (a.s.) and curses his killers, but that Allah will write in his deeds one lakh good deeds, will forgive one lakh sins and raise his position by one lakh grades. (Perhaps it is freeing one lakh people from sins). On the Day of Judgment, Allah will make his heart contented and satisfied.

Younger Son of Shah of Iran Commits Suicide

Alireza Pahlavi, the youngest son of former Iranian dictator Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, has committed suicide at his home in the United States.
His older brother, Reza Pahlavi, confirmed the death in a statement on his personal website on Tuesday, saying his sibling had been suffering from chronic depression.
The statement said that although his 44-year-old brother had struggled for years to overcome his suffering, “he finally succumbed, and during the night of the 4th of January 2011, in his Boston residence, took his own life.”
Police say he died from a single gunshot which was apparently self-inflicted.
His father, who had been supported by the United States, was ousted by the Islamic Revolution in 1979, and members of the family have been living in exile in the US for decades.
Alireza is the second member of the Pahlavi family to commit suicide.
The youngest daughter of the family, Leila Pahlavi, died in 2001 at the age of 31 after taking a large amount of cocaine and barbiturates. Her body was found in a London hotel.

'UK always inflicted damage on Iran'

A prominent Iranian historian has criticized the interference of British officials in Iran's internal affairs, saying Britain has always inflicted damage on Iran. (Read Full Story)

Responding to the above news story I would like to bring to the attention to the readers that, the British not only inflicted damage to Iran, but, to Islam and Muslims.
They created sects in 19th Century in the Middle East. They crafted new religions among Muslims, like Baha'is in Iran, Qadiyani or Ahmadiyya in India, Mahdi Sudani in Sudan. Israel is a gift from them to the Palestinians.
Ottomon Empire's disintegration was their brain child. Australia is their invaded territory. South Africa is their colony.
Partition in India and creation of Pakistan is their evil design. Divide and rule policy is attributed to them.
The Muslims were also foolish enough to follow their vices and schisms. Today, in Bahrain it is the British security which helps its tyrant ruler to abuse human rights.
It was the British government which dragged the war in Balkans and were helping Serbs to annihilate Bosnian Muslims. There is a long list of their inhuman and evil deeds.
