Saudi police make more Shia arrests

"We saw with our own eyes how the dissension forces beat up women. Where's the dignity? Where's justice?" Nimr said in a reference to last months' police crackdown on Shia demonstrations in the holy city of Medina.

The Medina uprising had been provoked by the police's killing, wounding or arrest of the Shia pilgrims who had sought to enter the Baqi cemetery. <<>>

Nawroz Mubarak

I wish happy Nawroz to the Iranians as it is their New Year. And also those who celebrate outside Iran. US president, Barack Obama has also wished them officially to improve the relations.
Though, there were attempts by some scholars to mark this day with some Islamic significance. Anyway we should share other people's sorrow and happiness unless that is not out of the boundries of shariat.
The colour and animal on Nawroz are irrelevant and has no Islamic significance.
Also, Hadhrat Imam Ali (a.s.) said that a day when a man does not commit a sin, that day is the day of Eid for him.

The following anecdote is sufficient to explain Nawroz:
One Nawroz day, Mansur Dawaaniqi, the Abbasid Caliph who took over the caliphate after his brother Abu al-A’bbas Saffaah, ordered Imam Musa Kadhim (a.s.) to present himself in the gathering of the Eid of Nawroz. This was so that the people could come and greet him and offer their gifts to him, which he should accept.
The Imam (a.s.) told Mansur, “Nawroz is the customary Eid of the Iranians and nothing has been said about it in Islam.”
To which Mansur replied, “This act is politically motivated and is intended to keep my soldiers happy. I place you under the oath of the Great God that you accept my request and present yourself at that gathering.”
The Imam (a.s.) agreed and arrived at the assembly. The army generals, nobles and the common masses arrived in his august presence, greeted him, and presented their gifts to him.
In the meantime, Mansur had ordered one of his slaves to position himself near the Imam (a.s.) and maintain a record of the money and gifts presented to him. The last person who had come to meet the Imam (a.s.) was an old man, who said to him:
“O’ Son of the Messenger of Allah! I am an impoverished person and lack the money to present you with gifts, but my gift for you today are three verses of elegy, which my grandfather had composed for your grandfather, Husain Ibn A'li(a.s.).”
Having said this, he then recited the verses.
The Imam (a.s.) responded appreciatively, saying, “I have accepted your gift,” after which he prayed for the man.
Then, turning to the slave, he instructed, “Go to Mansur, inform him of these gifts and ask him what has to be done about them?”
The slave did as he was told and upon returning, said to the Imam (a.s.):
“The Caliph has said: I have given them to you (Imam Musa Kadhim) as gifts. Spend them as you desire.”
The Imam (a.s.) told the old man, “Take these riches and gifts, for I am giving them all to you as gifts.”

Its school/college examination season. The students are nervous. Those who were regular to their school/college and did their homework consistently and revised their lessons are less nervous, but, they want to score high and want to make it in Toppers list.
There are others who had been less careful in their studies. Some study hard but cannot preserve their points or have a weak memory......there is a dua in Mafateehul Jinaan which is put over here. You can take a print out and memorise this short dua. Recite before starting to study your lesson and be regular in reciting it in Qunoot of Namaaz. InshaAllah you will find changes in you. A million Iraqi Shiites pray in Samarrah

As many as one million pilgrims prayed in the Iraqi holy city of Samarra on last Friday.

Samarra, a Sunni-majority city 80 miles (125 kilometres) north of the capital and a former hotbed of Iraq's insurgency, houses a major Shiite mausoleum blown up by suspected Al-Qaeda forces in 2006.

Sadr, head of the Mahdi army, last month urged the faithful to restore a traditional pilgrimage halted since the 2003 US-led invasion and to pray at Samarra's golden-domed shrine to commemorate the death of the 11th imam, Hassan al-Askari, at his mausoleum.

The commemoration falls this year on March 6.

Iraqi television stations reported the gathering swelled to more than a million.

"About 800,000 pilgrims arrived in the city," said Samarra governor Hamad Homoud al-Shagti well before midday as crowds continued to pour in.

"The security situation is good and there have not been any security violations so far," he told reporters. "Iraqi forces are deployed along the roads."

"Iraqi and US air forces are hovering over the area" in helicopters, Shagti said.

Police Major General Rasheed Flayeh said cars had been banned from the city to prevent bombings.

No serious incidents had been reported by mid-afternoon.

Tens of thousands of people died in violence sparked by the destruction three years ago by alleged al-Qaeda Sunni extremists of the dome of the revered Al-Askari mosque, built in 944. The golden dome was added in 1905.

Although security has improved in Iraq recently, dozens of Shiites were killed last month in bomb blasts as they headed into the holy city of Karbala, south of Baghdad, for a major religious ceremony.

Hijab in Mumbai

One in seven people believe it is acceptable in some circumstances for a man to hit his wife or girlfriend if she is dressed in “sexy or revealing clothes in public”, according to the findings of a survey released....(click to read full survey)

The above article talks about survey done in UK on the 'sexy or revealing clothes in public'.
In India, Mumbai city ranks second after Jammu & Kashmir, where the majority of Muslim women observe proper Hijab in Public. The visitors and tourists to Mumbai observe this practice and admire it. The women here drive vehicles, work in offices, do their job in call centres, attend schools and colleges etc. in proper Hijab. The sales of scarf has grown manifold and is in demand. Though Mumbai is the Centre of Indian Film industry and people all over the world think that it as a FREE city in regard to the women, but they are not aware of the fact, that, the film actresses are safe and comfortable in Hijab when they go shopping on the street. Even in India the people consider Mumbai women to be too liberal and outspoken due to the Bollywood. But, this is not the case. The eves of certain elite pockets of the city may sport revealing and sexy clothes (irrespective of the faith they practice), they are in MINORITY. The incidents of eve-teasing and rapes are low in comparision to other big cities.
Those who think that the western countries are free society, they are not 100% correct. There are people who are against "Sexual Liberalism, but, they are in a MINORITY as per the above survey done in UK.
